QT video Compression on Linux

I'm looking for an open sorce replacement for something like sorenson squeeze or Media Cleaner pro. 

We export quicktime files from our avid system as qt files and then compress them using media cleaner pro...I would like to compress my QT files on a Linux box and then move them to my DSS. I have seen some other compression programs, but I have yet to find one that takes a QT file for compression

Any help would be great....
