Actually, my last comments weren't really correct.  When you first launch an
announced playlist, you need to give the server time (up to 10 secs) to
buffer that stream before connecting clients.  If you happen to be
connecting clients before the server's buffer for the stream is full, there
will be a delay like you're seeing.  Could this explain your problem?  I
don't think there are any platform-specific differences from what I've seen.
