Playing live video stream from a buffer

Hi,

I need to be able to play a live video stream on a website. Ok, nothing strange. The thing is that I got the video stream as buffered 3gp data on the web server. All I want to do is to send the data as a byte stream to the player. Of what I understand it is not possible to just do like that.

I read some about the quicktime/darwin streaming server and the task seems to be a little bit more complicated. It seems that, in order to play live streams, you need first a encoding server, then a streaming server and then a client that receive and play the stream (the .sdp file).

I was thinking, maybe it's possible to at least jump over the encoding server since it's already encoded, and just encapsulate the video stream chunks with RTP. Then send the RTP packages to the streaming server, create a .sdp file manually and play it with a quicktime player plugin. All on the same server.

Is this possible or what do I need to do?
