about making DSS supporting other file fo rmats such as h.264

Hi all,
I've read DSS source code for some time and I noticed that

DSS can only stream *HINTED* .mov/.mp4 files. I want to make

DSS supporting other file formats such as h.264, etc.. Issues

concern me are as follows:

1/ Does it make sense that make DSS supporting *NOT HINTED*

h.264 format file(maybe nobody is doing this kind of work)? Or

maybe some tools can add hint tracks to a h.264 file?

2/ In order to do my work, do I have to modify the QTFile lib

of the code or maybe even I have to re-write my own streaming

server?

Any hints or suggestions will be appriciated.
