I want to write an app that can perform various manipulations on audio streams from the web (including the audio embedded in a video stream).
I have a long way to go before I get there. Though I have many years of programming experience (C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, FORTRAN, etc.), mostly for scientific applications, I have never programmed any streaming or even audio or video applications. Nor have I ever programmed specifically for the Mac.
Therefore, for starters, I am looking for simple example programs showing how one manipulates streaming audio on the Mac. I.e. I'm looking for the "Hello World" of streaming audio. I just want to get my feet wet as soon as possible.
I am aware of "Inside Mac: Sound" and I will be reading it carefully. Is there any other "Inside Mac" that I should read before I attempt to write stream-handling apps?
