Yes this is true. If you depend on this feature, you should use spampro.

I have found that SpamPro is very accurate in its reporting and the #s of
clients are always correct. I suspect there is something about your conf
file that is causing this. Perhaps you could send it to me?

Both tools are undocumented. The sample conf file provided with spampro
explains each configuration option.
