What kind of URL are you using in the QT Player when trying to connect to
the MP3 playlists? The QT Player needs to use the "icy" headers in order to
tune into QTSS/DSS MP3 playlists, so you need to use the following URL
format:
icy://hostname:554/playlist

I've been using http. This is the first time I've heard of "icy". But it's
somewhat beside the point. I was only connecting with QTP to verify the
problem wasn't with Winamp. QTP 5.0.2 has the nasty skip problem that I
reported when DSS4 first came out, and trying "icy" within my LAN environment
doesn't fix that behavior. (I understand dev versions of QTP have this
fixed, which is probably why you aren't seeing it. ;-)

Prefixing the URL with "icy://" should solve your problem.

I'll try it tomorrow at work, just to verify the connection, I don't think it'll fix the skip problem though.

As for your WinAmp problem, I'm not sure what's causing it. I've used
WinAmp on Windows 98 to tune into a DSS MP3 playlist with no problems, using
the standard "http://hostname:554/playlistname"; URL.

That used to be the case for me too, which is why it's so puzzling. You're
the only respondent, so I assume no-one else is running into my problem. Maybe
I'll reinstall to a different directory and diff them, to see if I've changed
anything inadverdently.

Thanks for the response.
