QTSS is the version of the server that runs on OS X.  DSS is the same 
core code and runs in the other platforms.

MPEG-1 is supported.  AFAIK any codec, even those that have not been 
invented, are supported as the server is codec agnostic.  With QT 5 you 
can hint and receive a MPEG-1 stream on both Windows and Macs.
