running the streaming server through a proxy

Hi,

I am setting up the Darwin Streaming Server for our organisation.

Our environment is FreeBSD 4.3 Unix

We have a proxy acting as our gate to the outside. But I am just in the
process of testing internally so any server should work? I cannot get the
Streaming proxy to work or configure. There seems to be a lack of
documentation on the topic of setting up a proxy. The documentation
suggests it should just work!

As of writing I can only get it to work over http protocol
running the Darwin Streaming Server

I am not sure how to use the proxy

This is how I attempt to set up the proxy:
(I have tried on a proxy with dual interface and an internal server both
with similar results)

(I leave the defaults for all conf files assuming it will work!)
start the proxy first:

/usr/local/sbin/StreamingProxy -c /etc/streaming/streamingproxy.conf -i
my.ip.address.com

them I start the streaming server:

/usr/local/sbin/DarwinStreaming/Server

(sometimes) when I do a ps waux|grep Stream
it only show the StreamingProxy process
not the DarwinStreamingServer

I setup Quick time client to point to the

Streaming Proxy
RTSP: my.ip.address.com port 554
and Transport: udp port 554
it fails
http port fails too

I get the message:
a network connection could not be established
your network settings may be incorrect or your firewall may be blocking rtsp
and http ports

#our firewall is the proxy - is there some setting up we have to do to get
around the firewall rules?

I try the Quicktime url:
rtsp://my.ip.address.com/sample.mov
but it just never loads or seems to take a long time

**************************************************************
I have a question regarding something else more advanced too:

can you set up a DarwinStreamingServer on one machine
and use the StreamingProxy on another?

HELP!

Nathan
