Anybody who knows what can cause this to happen after upgrading to DSS

As I said before, MP4 works fine but .mov does not. No difference if
using old files or uploading new ones (with hint track created with
Squeeze 3)...
I know of no reported problems or imcompatibility that would cause
previously hinted movies (that I presume streamed fine for you while
using an older version of the Darwin Streaming Server) to work in the
past, but now to fail using DSS 4.1.2.
By chance where the movie files copied to another server, and then
copied back, such as via FTP while in ascii mode?
What was the previous version of DSS for FreeBSD that you had which
worked with these files?
Can you try this:
1) Copy the old DarwinStreamingServer binary back over to your current
FreeBSD machine
2) Kill off any currently running DarwinStreamingServer processes
3) Start up (as the root user) the old DarwinStreamingServer process
like this
(now, from your QuickTime Player open up an RTSP url to try to view
one of these "415" movies)
4) Hit control-C in the terminal, and now try running the new DSS
4.1.2 binary like this:
root# /usr/sbin/DarwinStreamingServer -d -S 5
(now, from your QuickTime Player open up an RTSP url to try to view
one of these "415" movies)
5) Hint control-C in the terminal, to kill the new server from running
in the foreground.
Now, here's the question: Did the movie play correctly under step (3),
but not under the new server, step (4)?
Or, do you now get 415 errors under both the older server and the new
one? If so, then I suspect that your
movies have become corrupt. My suggestion is to copy them back to a
Windows or Mac OS machine and
re-export the files as Hinted QuickTime Movies.
If you find a case where you are absolutely certain that a properly
hinted file streams under a previous version of DSS, but fails under
DSS 4.1.2, then let us know as much details as possible (ie. how the
file was created, etc.) and if possible provide the file so that I can
reproduce it here (by placing the hinted movie on a web or ftp server
for me to download and test).
