I've been testing DSS (4.1.2, 4.1.3) on Windows 2003 server (RC2) for
the last few months and it runs fine.
But, there seems to be a problem with the HTML Admin tool.
On Windows 2000 server, I install ActiveState PERL (default install)
and DSS (also default install), start streaminadminsever.pl, login the
HTML admin interface at http://localhost:1220 and start configuring the
server. Easy as that.
But when I do this on Windows 2003 server, the HTML admin interface
does show up but it gets no data from the server. No login, and it
shows this info (see bottom of mail) in the main screen. I can't logout
and although I configured the server to restrict Admin connections
(<PREF NAME="IPAccessList" >127.0.0.*</PREF>), I can browse the HTML
admin interface from other computers too, still no data ofcourse.
On production servers, we always quit streamingadminserver.pl and I
configured streamingserver.xml manually on our test servers so I got
DSS running, but I would really like to be able to use the Admin tool
since it's handy for altering playlists and setting up relays.
What's wrong? Is it W2003server RC2? Is it ActiveState? Is it DSS?
Do I have to configure the PERL path somewhere? I tried altering the
path in streamingadminserver.pl to some variations like
C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe but no result. I also tried commands like
c:\Perl\bin\perl.exe "c:\Program Files\Darwin Streaming
Server\streamingadminserver.pl", still no result.
Can we perhaps expect new DSS binaries for W2003 server anytime soon?
(W2003 server will be released in 2 weeks...)
Oh and btw, will DSS automatically take advantage of W2003 server's new
disk caching mechanisms? ;-)
