problem in hinting movie

hi all
    i have a mpg file (210 MB) which when i try to export (QT PRO 6)as
hinted movie, loses the sound track. i have made the movie self contained.
also when i first convert it into quiktime movie & then hint it, the
machine gets hanged. i wait for hours but it is not able to hint the
movie. how should i hint the movie??
