Re: Another blow to QuickTime



Steve I think you reaching a bit by saying your seeing QT drop off when I'm seeing just the
opposite.  It appears it was a decision NPR made and not anything Apple did to my knowledge.
Being an NPR station I did send an e-mail to certain folks when I heard the news and the reply I
received basically said it was simply a disagreement between NPR and Apple and NPR decided to
stop using the service until further notice or maybe for good if things can't be worked out.  As
I said I don't know the details other than it appears not to be a money issue because as we all
know there's no fee for using QT.  My guess is it was simply a disagreement over something in the
little agreement form you say yes to when you install and use the QT encoder and server.  Most
likely just one word that the lawyers can't agree with.  In big business that makes or breaks
deals every day, even free deals.  As I said I have no idea for sure what caused this and all I
can do is hope the problem can be worked out some day soon.
