Red Hat DSS install trouble

I'm trying to install DSS on RH Linux 7.1. The install completes without error. When I log into the admin on port 1220 it goes through the initial set-up screens, first prompting for MP3 streaming password set up, then an SSL toggle, then asking for a media directory. It's interesting that the field in the streaming directory form is blank, it's implied in the docs that this should be filled with the default directory /usr/local/movies. I entered that directory. Then I get to what I guess is the Home page for the admin system. There is a button in the top left that is labeled Stop Server, next to it is "Server is Starting Up". The Server Snapshot table looks like this;
Server:

Status: Started Wed, 31. Dec 1969 19:00:00
Current Time On Server: Wed, 31. Dec 1969 19:00:00
Up Time:
DNS Name (default):

Server Version: .c
Server API Version: 0.0

CPU Load: 0.00%
Current # of Connections:
Current Throughput: bps
Total Bytes Served:
Total Connections Served:

Obviously it's not reading the server's date correctly.

When I go to Playlists I get an empty Playlists table. Click on New MP3 playlist and I get Error - Perl execution failed.

Error log gives me Error getting directory.

I've installed and run DSS 3 on this server successfully. Since that time I've upgraded Apache to 2.0.44. Could that be a problem?

Cheers,
GSF
