New to streaming... Setup Darwin Streaming Server on Linux machine (I9m not
the webguy, but that9s what he tells me). I9m trying to work out the best
encoding settings (we have a ton of video to compress). Connected via T1.
We were finally able to stream a .mov file (with mpeg-4 audio and video
settings) today, exported from QT Pro 6.3. Interestingly, it streams in
RealOne player (with Envivio plugin) on the PC, but does not stream in
RealOne Player or QuickTime on the Mac (OS X 10.2.6). It plays perfectly
from a local hard disk or CD in QuickTime Player (Mac and PC). Here9s the

We would prefer to stream .mp4 format. To that end, I9ve tried encoding the
same source file using QT Pro 6.3 MPEG-4 codec, and also using Apple
Compressor 1.0.1 MPEG-4 fast cable streaming codec. The resultant .mp4
streams in RealOne player (again, only in the Windows version), will not
stream in QuickTime Player 6.3. (Of note: it again plays fine in QuickTime
on both Mac and PC if played from a local hard disk or CD). But what9s
strange in the streamed version is that while the video portion looks fine,
the audio 3stutters.2 And it9s not just an occasional hiccup...it9s
continuous audio stuttering through the entire clip. Here9s the URL:

Leads me to several questions:
1. Any thoughts on the source of the stuttering audio?
2. Anyone know why it won9t stream to my QuickTime Player on the Mac (I9m
able to view other streaming content such as the Apple QuickTime movie
trailers).
3. Anyone know why the Mac Version of RealOne won9t stream these files?
Thanks so much for your help! It feels like we9re SO-O-O-O close, and only
a few final tweaks should do it!
