QTSS / DSS uses uses the SHOUTcast / IceCast model, which is HTTP, to stream MP3s.  HTTP is usually done over TCP, which means that delays could happen when TCP rate adaption kicks in, which could negatively impact the QoS of the stream.  This is one reason why it would be cool to add RFC3119 support to DSS / QTSS, to stream MP3s over RTP / RTSP in a more loss-tolerant way.  I think QTSS / DSS maps MPEG to RTP using RFC2250 ... though i'm not sure yet here.

At least this is how I understand it.  I'm still researching this stuff myself.
