I am sure that this has been asked before, because the documentation on the
Apple site is just terrible. I want to embed a reference to a live stream in
a Web page (a student radio station) so that users may either view the
stream from the Web Page or click on a link to open the QT Player. I have:
* An XServe running QTSS
* A Dell running RedHat 6.2 with Apache and Darwin
* A G4 OSX running QT Broadcaster
One of the instructions on the Apple site says to:
* Use QT Broadcaster to create a reference movie
* Embed the reference movie in a Web Page
I did not see anything in QT Broadcaster that said "Make Reference Movie,"
so I assummed that if I chose EXPORT-> MOVIE I would use the resulting file
as my reference movie. I uploaded the file myrefmovie.mov to my Dell, and
created a Web page with the following code:
<embed src="myrefmov.mov" width="128" height="96">
THAT didn't work, I just got the annoying blue Q for my efforts. So I looked
back at the documentation and elsewhere it said:
* Use makerefmov to create a reference movie that points to your .sdp file
* Embed this reference movie in your Web page
I used makerefmov and I set the url to rtsp://myxserve.edu/mysdpfile.sdp
I used the same code in the html file. Still, only an annoying blue Q!
Finally, I read elsewhere on the Apple site that I should embed the
reference movie in the page AND use a tag called qtsrc. So, using the movie
created by makerefmov, I created a Web page with the following embed
command:
embed src="myrefmov.mov" width="128" height="96"
qtsrc="rtsp://myxserve.edu/mysdpfile.spd";
Still the blue Q.
If anyone can give me some advice on how to make this work, I would greatly
appreciate it.
I am not using Darwin in this scenario, although it is running on the Web
server.
Streaming on Port 80 is enabled on the XServe.
