Heh, this subject just seems to keep coming up!
You might want to check out the postings on 'Streaming MPEG2-Media?' as
AFAIK the same rules apply. The manuals & docs are very unclear about
this but it seems you might want to have the mpeg in an AVI file. Not
sure of this though - I couldn't find a description of how to do it,
just a few warnings and caveats.
The latest(?) manual I could find is here:
>
> Where it tells you that the only way to stream AVIs is to use a
hinted
> .mov (from QT-Pro) as a reference movie to an AVI in the same
directory.
> MPEG-1 is only mentioned once, on page 47, where it states that
> MPEG-1-in-QuickTime (mov) will cause problems for the QT client if
> looping playlists are used.
[borrowed from earlier post]
I did write a longer answer to an earlier post but I didn't send it in
the end, the thread was turning into a bit of a pie fight and didn't
seem to be going anywhere.
If anyone has first hand experience of streaming MPEG1 or 2 in new
versions of DSS (4+) can you post some info on it?
Cheers
Bryn
