Re: Could someone give a quick setup guideline?

Kevin,
Your web browser doesn't know how to communicate with DSS, which is an
RTSP/RTP streaming server. Instead, try using the QuickTime client
directly to request "rtsp://servername:80/sample_100kbit.mov"; (using the
File->Open URL option) . DSS is not a replacement for a web server, so
if you plan to serve media to web-based clients, you'll need to run a
web server in addition to DSS.

If you want users to access the streams via a web browser, then you will
need to learn about embedding quicktime links, rtsptext links, reference
movies, etc. You can find tutorials for doing these things from:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tools_tips/tutorials/
Once you've verified that basic streaming to a QuickTime player works,
then you can go about creating the web pages and/or reference movies
needed to deliver the streams via web.

BTW, DSS 4.1.3 is now available, and contains security fixes that you
probably want to apply if you are running the DSS web admin Perl script.
