First, I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest DSS release
(4.1.3) since there have been some important bug fixes since 4.0.
When configuring the Shoutcast broadcaster, you won't have the ability
to set a broadcast mountpoint, so the stream will just use "/". The URL
for your MP3 stream will be "http://DSShost:8000/"; assuming that you're
using port 8000 for DSS MP3 streaming. You'll want to enter the same
broadscast password that you gave DSS during the web-based DSS setup
assistant. As for the Shoutcast target port, if you give it "8000" then
it will use port 8001 (don't ask me why). DSS listens on both of these
ports, so entering port 8000 should work. Once you start the shoutcast
broadcast, it should successfully connect to DSS and start the MP3
stream.
To tune into the reflected stream, use the URL "http://DSShost:8000/"; in
an MP3 client or .m3u/playlist file.
As for configuring DSS, you shouldn't really need to configure it other
than setting the MP3 password, which is done during setup if you use the
web admin UI. There are some MP3-related variables in the
"streamingserver.xml" file that you might want to tweak, such as
increasing the server's buffer size for MP3 streams
("mp3_max_flow_control_time" preference).
