Hi,
After reading the faqs, manuals and googled my head off i decided to
drop this issue here.
While trying to setup several live streams i keep running into several
problems.
The setup is a Helix 9 server running on linux 2.4.18 serving multiple
sources both rm files and qt files.
The server gets its sources from real-encoders and Quicktime broadcasters.
The encoders running realproducer have no problems, the problems are all
regarding traffic comming from quicktime encoders and or QTSS
When i use all the local stuff on the Xserver it works smoothly, i am
very impressed with the performance....
But.,.. as i have to stream quicktime and real from about 4 locations i
would like to use a single source (from the clients point of view).
So basicly splitting up the encoders and streamserver.
So my idea was to use the quicktime streaming features on the Helix box
to accomplish this task so that all streams seem to originate from 1 server.
I also tried to use the default relay function on QTSS..(relay via tcp)
no result
Also there is no traffic going to the Helix server, or does traffic
start as soon as a user is connected properly?
When i use Auto Unicast (announce) towards the Helix Server it keeps on
prerolling untill the end of times
I also tried to change the payload between MPEG4-video and Quicktime...
no result :(
so.. i checked the logs on the Helix-server and i see that the qt
encoder tries to connect to the HelixBox.
But then i try to connect with QT player which keeps on sitting
there..... "getting info"...
I understand that i need a .sdp file, so i created one, which didn't work.
I would much more prefer to have the sdp file created by the encoder
than to use this one.
But.. as the encoder is unable to connect to the server this file is not
generated.
I tried to connect with and without uid and password, with no difference
in result.
regarding this file...( and again the documentation is not very clear)
1. playlist_file... as i am only live encoding and not on demand, why
would i need a playlist?
2, sdp reference... tried to use the live.sdp, and live.mov, but when
and is there a file created with extension .mov? as far as i can see
this file is not created.
How do i place a .sdp file on the server when no connection is made and
therefor no sdp file is "uploaded", presume the file is placed when a
connection is established.
Again i tried to find the info from manuals, but these aren't really
verbose especialy when it comes to both platforms and the crossusage of
these platforms.
There is no firewall between the server and the encoder,
If anybody knows about any manuals concerning this...(not mentioning the
official docs (both real and quicktime) to help me on my way, i would be
very gratefull.
Maybe i am overlooking something... been trying to achieve this for days
now and getting a very confused and wonders if what i want is possible.
The docs talk about Sorensen Broadcaster (which is dead) Darwin
Streaming Server (isn;t this the same as QTSS??) or playlist Broadcaster
(this is the Quicktime broadcaster.. right)...
What would be the best way to go in this setup? should i use the QTSS
and relay it? or broadcast straight into the Helix server?
So... if anybody has experience on this... HELP!!!
Thanx so much in advance
With kind regards
