Re: How to Reduce Latency??

If you get an answer for that - please do not forget to share it with the list.

I have put this request in for an enhancement to QT Broadcaster months ago.

When Broadcaster first came out, I had a 2 - 3 second delay max. Which each successive change to QuickTIme, the Broadcaster and QTSS - I noticed added degradation in speed. I am now at a 10 second delay.

I have talked to a few people that stated this is a "feature" as the delay is added to reduce the risk of loosing frames. My contention is that this should be a user defined parameter. If I want a 1 second delay, and I am okay with the frame rate or loss of frames, then that is my decision as a user.

Thoughts?!?

Therefore, I need to make the video stream as close to real-time as possible
(if we can get it down to a 1 or 2 second delay that would be great). What are
you tips and recommendations? What settings changes should I make on the
powerbook? What setting changes should I make in QuickTime Player? Remember, I
don't have any QT streaming server yet, just a powerbook running broadcaster.

Help.
