Trouble installing DSS on FreeBSD virtual private server

Hi,

I just tried to install Darwin Streaming Server on my web server, a virtual private server (i.e. sort of a dedicated server, but not quite) from viaVerio.

Since there are no binaries for FreeBSD, I downloaded the source. Building (./Buildit) went fine, however, the install script (./Install) failed because a number of the source paths in the cp calls were wrong - which surprised me, I expect someone of the develepers would notice such an obvious mistake. (BTW, is there some formal way for filing bug reports?)
Anyway, I did the installation manually, roughly following the source code of the install script.

Now, it seems that the streaming server is working, but the admin server is pretty broken. When I first accessed it, an assistant asked me for the MP3 password, media directory, SSL and HTTP Streaming. Now all I get are various error messages. For example, when I go to the status page, all fields are empty or zero (or Jan 1, 1970), and at the end of the HTML, after </html>, the following output is tacked on:

HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: DSS 3.0 Admin Server/1.0 Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 16:01:32 GMT Content-Type: text/html Connection: close

<html><body>
<h1>Error - Perl execution failed</h1>
</body></html>

I had a look at the logs, but all I found is this line:

145.254.222.148 - - [27/Mar/2003:17:01:33 +0100] "GET /parse_xml.cgi?filename=welcome.html HTTP/1.1" 500 67

Not very informative.

Any ideas? Did I do something wrong?

The system is running FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE.
