MPEG-4 and licensing

Folks,

IMHO it would behoove all who are planning to deploy ISO MPEG-4 content
to order the licensing
package (MPEG LA Visual Patent Portfolio License) from the MPEG LA.
it's free.
http://mpegla.com/mpeg4v/m4v_agreement.html

That said:
There is no fee for the first 50,000 commercially renumerated (for fee
users) in a year.
Non-profits (501c) do not pay any fees. (I think government would apply
here)
If you use QTSS/DSS/ QuickTime Pro, Apple has already paid the encoding
fee for you.

There are many many levels of the MPEG LA license. Very deep lawyer
stuff. But if one is
willing and/or able to read through it, I think at least most people on
this list can figure it out.

*Disclaimer* you are hereby forewarned that I am recounting all this
from memory,
and as such is foggy at best right now. Order the packet you will be
glad you did :)

Daniel
