Oh ... I had this happen to me so much! Unfortunately I forgot the
solution.
I can tell you this and I think it's right. The problem is *not* the
router, it is, IIRC, because you are using port 80 and have a webserver
running on 80 OR it is something to do with receiving the files
(movies) via locahost... I bet you can stream out to another computer
just fine -that is if a webserver is not running on the same port.
Then, in order to receive locally on 554 (and the other ports that are
involved, somebody know which those are?) you need to open the router
for it to send out at that port and enable the QT Player to receive on
that port.
Anyway, the convoluted answer to your problem is somewhere about what I
have written. It drove me CRAZY. The best I can do is say that is NOT
the router -it IS all in the various settings, which in your case, as
was in mine, if I read you correctly, also entails streaming and
testing the reception of the same stream all locally.
Heh... I even exchanged my router... TWICE!

Last week I migrated from my Airport Base Station to a Linksys

I confirmed that the router is the problem, by bypassing it, and
connecting
directly to the dsl modem. In that case my QTSS streams to my computer
fine.
I'm running the latest versions of QTSS and of the QT Player.
I'm concerned not so much for me, as I can work around the problems,
but for
my clients who might have linksys routers, who would NOT be able to
work
around the problems.
And ideas?
I searched Linksys and the Apple knowledge base, without success.
