no write permissions in movies dir: server unresponsive?

Hi,

Suppose, you've got a QTSS running and you add 2 clients to the Broadcast user list. One client is a large national broadcaster, the other one is a student who's playing with webcast techology.

Both use QuickTime Broadcaster to broadcast and use the automatic .SDP file publishing. Since both their .sdp files are saved in the Movies dir, and both parties can manually choose the name for their .SDP file: yeah: they can overwrite each others files and pretend to be the other one. Cool for the kid, but uncool for you and the national broadcaster.

So we don't use automatic broadcasting and don't allow QTSS to write in the Movies directory. But on occasion (I have repeated it once or twice) QTSS became unresponsive after someone did try to automatically publish the .SDP file with QuickTime Broadcaster. I didn't thorougly test but it's worth mentioning I guess.

Since this is a workaround, I *really, really* hope that QTSS 5 is smarter, since anyone with access to the Movies directory on a current QTSS can still publish an .SDP file and start an unlimited webcast.

Stef
