Thread-topic: 3gp streaming problem || The solution (in a way)
Hello all,
I am working on a streaming platform using the Darwin streaming server
to stream to a mobile phone via GPRS / UMTS access. A lot of you had a
problem with streaming media like this. The movie plays one time and the
second time it doesn't play, but the streaming server says it does play.
(understand?!?) I had the same problem, and I know the cause of the
problem and a terrible way to fix it.
The problem is in the fact that most mobile operators use NAT for access
to internet. When the Darwin streaming server sends the second time, the
NAT table drops the packets and the movie won't play. The solution is:
Search for a mobile provider that gives public IP numbers. I know
t-mobile Netherlands gives these IP numbers for there GPRS network. Then
the streams will work.
