Not really stuttering, but,
I found using analog in as the source for audio only streams,
QTBroadcaster would not "Play thru Speaker" so I ran QTPlayer
to monitor. The Player consistently showed a bit rate 10% higher
than the Broadcaster, but never stopped to let the stream catch up.
Rather the opposite, the Player would skip forward about 0.2 seconds
every 10 - 20 seconds.
This happened on any client player connected to the QTSS. The server
runs on another box with the Broadcaster pointed at it. I also
"Record to Disk" and put the resulting file in a streaming directory
after the show. This always streams smoothly, no blips.
When I got the core audio drivers with Protools 6 and its HD card
I could use that as the source, but still no playthru, and the blips
were still there. This is with 128kb/s stereo mp4 audio only.
I have now set up a second instance of Broadcaster, running
24kb/s mono. Digi's driver won't let 2 instances of QTB share
the output bus from the card, so the "Narrowcaster" is running
from the analog in.
Unfortunately at the same time I upgraded both broadcaster and server
to QT 6.4. So I can't tell if it's QT6.4, or the dual broadcast,
but the blips seem to have vanished.
Our next scheduled broadcast is at 7pm EST Thursday, details at

Our network guys say they have opened port 554,
but note that I am using raw rtsp:// links,
y'all should know the dangers of that by now ;-)
