Re: streaming live radio setup -- caution

More on using AAC/aacPlus with the Orban Opticodec-PC Streaming Audio Encoder:

This Windows based encoder uses Apple QTSS/DSS for the server on whatever platform you desire.

It produces streams that can be played using RealPlayer 10 with the full aacPlus codec and a compatible stream that can be played with Apple QuickTime (plain AAC without aacPlus SBR).

The encoder can also be configured to stream plain AAC that can also be played with RealPlayer 10 and Apple QuickTime.

For whatever reason, I am not able to play Apple QuickTime Broadcaster AAC streams using RealPlayer 10. I do not know if this is by design, as I have not thoroughly investigated this yet. But Opticodec-PC produces streams that play on either player simultaneously.

Also, as many instances of Opticodec-PC as you have CPU horsepower for can be run. Since the Optimod-PC Sound Card driver is a multi-client driver, the card may drive all these encoders, provided it is the professional version of the encoder.
