Responding to an old post here... I've just been turned on to 3ivx (thanks
simon) and concur that the results are outstanding - I can see no reason to
use Apple's MPEG-4 when 3ivx is available. I've tested streaming playback on
several machines that do not have the 3ivx codec installed and can vouch
that it works fine - all the user needs is QT6. This one is a no-brainer.
And the price of the encoder is well below what the pro version of Sorenson
3 costs (for point of comparison).
