Responding to an old post here... I've just been turned on to 3ivx (thanks
simon) and concur that the results are outstanding - I can see no reason to
use Apple's MPEG-4 when 3ivx is available. I've tested streaming playback on
several machines that do not have the 3ivx codec installed and can vouch
that it works fine - all the user needs is QT6. This one is a no-brainer.

Yes, but the problem is, that Apples QuickTime Braodcaster does not support the special codec options. There are not much codecs which use these options but 3ivx is one of them.

So you can't set 3ivx to use "Single Pass - Constant Bitrate" which is
especially useful for streaming. I hammerd the 3ivx guys for years
to support streaming and now I can't use it because the Bradcaster
does not support it, that is very sad.

But there are other Broadcaster Apps out there who support that!

But I would really like to see Apples Broadcaster to support these options!
