Observing what's happening is part of the problem. The only observations are:
Nothing in the error log
StreamingAdminServer runs, but if the server is running the status always is
"Server is starting up" and the server status is reporting default values
(Server started on Jan 1 1970 etc..).
Any attempt to change a setting, does not load the actual settings, nor
changes anything. Clearly - there's no communication between the admin server
and the streaming server.
The frustrating thing is that I don't see a way to enable more verbose
debugging output, other than starting up the admin server with the '-d'
switch, which then puts it into the foreground. Even then, debug output is
minimal.
What we need is tracing functionality which reports every communication
between streamingserver and admin server, along with the IP address it tries
to communicate on.
