I have discovered what I think is another undocumented "feature" of
QuickTime player.
I notice that on certain firewalls, namely a Netgear FVL328, that the
QuickTime auto transport negotiation will fail to connect to a normal UDP
RTSP stream, unless you force the Network Transport to UDP. However, if
you specify the port in the URL, i.e., rtsp://127.0.0.1:554/test.sdp, this
seems to force the player into Interleaved TCP mode which QTSS/DSS also
supports. This works fine.
The question is, can anyone verify this with the developers and ask if this
is documented anywhere?
BTW: This behavior is noticed using the latest QuickTime player 6.5.2 on
WindowsXP SP-1.
Thanks.
