Re: QTSS Icecast and Track Titles

Praveen-

Unfortunately, the Icecast1 Server in QTSS/DSS isn't very good in my opinion. It is an old, now deprecated implementation of Icecast that is basically administratively featureless. We have had a number of different problems attempting to use it, especially for live streaming using external source encoders, including our own that we have developed.

My recommendation is to use the new genuine Icecast2 from http://www.icecast.org. It has many new features by comparison to the Icecast1 implementation in QTSS/DSS.

BTW, the sample.mp3 does show Title and Artist in iTunes when streamed as a QTSS/DSS playlist. I just tested it. I also just tested a file tagged using Winamp ID3v1 and ID3v2 and streamed as a playlist, and Title and Artist works fine streaming to both Winamp and iTunes as well.

iTunes seems to play Icecast2 Version 2.2 (Current Release) MP3 streams with no problems, including the display of all metadata.

If anyone else has any other information regarding the QTSS/DSS Icecast1 implementation using external live source encoders, I would interested in that.

Hi everyone! I've scoured the web for an answer to my problem but i've had
little to no luck... Nothing has worked for me so far and I'm wondering if
its possible at all...

My problem is that I need QTSS to reflect Track title/artist info from an
Icecast1 stream to listeners.

I have the stream up and everything works - but instead of track info, a
listeners sees the Mount Point name. This isn't gonna cut it...

I am running iTunes on one computer, streaming it via Nicecast (icecast1)
to an external QTSS .

I've heard that ID Tags v2.3 works but not 2.4 but i've tried converting
some songs in iTunes to 2.3 and then playing them - but nothing :(

PLEASE can anyone at least let me know if this is possible? It'd help me
soooooo much.

thanks so much
