Yes, I saw that announcement. There is also a way to work around the iTunes/AirTunes/AAC stream limitation using another application from Rogue Amoeba, Nicecast, as discussed here:

That technique, of course, will let you send any audio that you want to your Airport Express by using Nicecast to convert it to an MP3 stream (a format that works with AirTunes) and having iTunes play it.

I haven't found anything that suggests that there are limitations on what audio types can be sent via AirTunes. Everything I've read implies that if iTunes can play it then AirTunes can stream it. So I'm concerned that there is something about the way that we have configured our AAC stream that is causing the problem.
