User-agent: Internet Messaging Program (IMP) 3.2.2
Michael,
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but I too was having issues with IGMP
requests. In my situation, I was trying to use a machine running OSX Server to
relay a multicast from an encoder box (running QT broadcaster) to another
machine. All three machines were on different subnets.
If I ran QT Player on the Server, I could connect directly to the multicast
stream witout any issues. When I ran only the QTSS relay via Server Admin,
however, after about 3 minutes or so, the machine would send an IGMP leave
request to the router. Once the request was processed, the server's subnet
would stop receiving the multicast, and the relay would die. If another
machine on the server's subnet was picking up the multicast and thus keeping
the subnet in the multicast group, the relay would keep working.
I was unable to find a way to make this work, and eventually changed the setup
so that the encoder sent a unicast to the server, and the server relayed both a
unicast to the other machine and a multicast to the network.
I'm not sure if that helps, but from what I could tell, the application software
was at least triggering, if not controling the IGMP requests; things worked
with QT player, but not the QTSS relay.
Sorry if that is confusing, if you'd like any more info, let me know.

| We are currently testing a Video on Demand and streaming solution. We are
| having an issue with Multicast where the client seems to be not giving
| IGMP Join/Leave and according to the developer the software does not
| supply that, but rather the host OS....does anyone know of any issues in
| this regard on OSX, currently running 10.3.4 on my clients.....BTW this
| happens on Windows too, so I am not 100% sure it is, but the problem has
| been confirmed, we only need to track down where the problem originates
| from.
