Broadcasting to streaming server

Hi,

I am trying to write my own application to send audio and video packets to a Darwin Streaming Server. I am sending the packets from a randomly chosen port on my computer to the port specified by my SDP file on the Darwin Streaming Server (usually 5002 for audio and 5004 for video). However, using a packet sniffer, for every packet I send to the Darwin Streaming Server, I am receiving an ICMP packet back saying Destination Unreachable (with code 3 – port unreachable). And when I open my SDP file on my computer, it says “connecting” and then “ready” and then nothing happens.

Can anyone please help me with which ports I should be using to send the packets to the DSS? How does the DSS know which ports I’m going to send the packets on? Is the port thing the reason why I’m getting the ICMP packets?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ailene
