OpenCDN is a project aiming to develop an estensible Overlay Network of
streaming servers, implementing Application Level Multicast, and
providing scalable live streaming to the masses.
After about one month from the latest release, this major update
includes new features which require previous entities to
be upgraded. These include:
* Inter-Entity Authentication by a shared secret
* RTSP authentication support
* Program pre- and post-requisite CGI invocation
* Timestamps displayed for Registration and Surrogates data
* Cleaner logs
* Concurrent Teardowns

Interested contributing entities must ask me for an $oCDNpassword to be
set in etc/CommConf.pm before to successfully register to the public
RRDM. Also, please report about any problem or doubt, maybe found in the
(evolving) documentation provided.
Although Helix support has progressed too, actually only a Darwin test
network is in place. People interested in Helix branch, should
contribute with Helix Nodes and Sources to the OpenCDN.
Test network has recently grown by provision of a well connected
national Node offered by the courtesy of CILEA (http://www.cilea.it) and
GARR (http://www.garr.it/).
Contributing test sources, either Live or On Demand, as well as other
relay test nodes, are welcomed.
