Somewhat of a novice here - I run a college internet radio station
that was well set up before me ( by sweetSusan Jacobson, from this
list). I am trying to turn this into more of a Broadcasting center and
want students to be able to mix live radio/video with premade
audio/video streams.
I have been playing a lot with Wirecast...seems interesting, dont know
how mixing Live in with premade is yet but...
aside
Vara Software Wirecast and Channel Storm Live Channel can both mix live
with pre-recorded content. Wirecast is scriptable, so can be automated.
1) we are running QT SS 10.2, so I can't really even begin to manage
playlists. But in Panther Server or what we know of Tiger Server, will
this become easier - managing live and playlisted audio/video? I dont
really want to confuse the students by running two types of software
Easier for playlists via QTSS Publisher. However live streams can't be
mixed with video from disk with QTSS Publisher. If you want to mix in
live A/V streams, Wirecast and Live Channel are excellent choices.

2) Is there some trick to embeding the rtsp file in an html page? We
run the Radio QT Bcaster to a QT SS and yet, most of the college is PC
and cannot download any players other than the bundled WindowsStuf and
some computers respond to some things (quicktime, or real player
embeded) and some will attempt to show a player Only if I offer an
external link to bring it up separately.
Don't specify the rtsp url as the value for the src attribute in the
embed tag. If you do that, other players may "hijack" the embedded
content (even if they can't play it). If you want to invoke QuickTime,
specify any file type QT supports as the value for the src parameter
(the file should be on your web server). Then use either the href
attribute or the qtsrc attribute to specify the rtsp url. The href
attribute will require the client to click to play (clicking on
whatever was specified in the src). The qtsrc attribute will load the
content specified without requiring a click thru. There are lots of
tools/tutorials for embedding QuickTime. I highly recommend the book
"QuickTime for the Web" by Steven Gulie (more info at
http://homepage.mac.com/qt4web/).
All these Silly questions,
No such thing on this list as long as it deals with practical issues!
