This is a newbie question. I've been reading about streaming media
and am clearly a below a novice in knowledge and understanding. What
is puzzling me at the moment is the idea of streaming media to mobile
devices and hint tracks.
Everything I can find to read on the subject only mentions hint tracks
in relation to Apple QT. A colleague says that hint tracks are
required for all 3gpp/3gpp2 streaming to mobile phones. Can anyone
here explain this or provide a URL that I can dig into that explains
the concept of hint tracks, whether they are a QT only artifact, and
how these tracks are created by encoders other than QT?
