HTTP and UDP streaming use the same RTSP port. So your server bound to port 554 (or 7070, 80, 8000, 8001, whatever) for UDP streaming can also serve HTTP clients.

HTTP tunneled streaming does have some benefits. When a server is overloaded and packet loss is affecting some client sessions as a result, HTTP has been better about resending lost packets. Of course, you shouldn't ever let your server get overloaded in the first place. Otherwise I don't think there is a big difference between UDP and HTTP in terms of performance & reliability.

The idea behind HTTP tunnel is to go through secure firewalls on the standard HTTP port 80. Doing anything else defeats this purpose. If you want to run on a different port, it is more efficient to run RTSP since the stream overhead is lower than an HTTP tunnel.
Stream Efficiency in Order
1.  RTSP UDP
2.  RTSP TCP
3.  HTTP TCP
