Re: Streaming to non Quicktime clients


I've been successfully streaming live broadcasts using QT Broadcaster and
QTSS. But so far, I've only been able to stream to Quicktime clients.

I'd like to expand to support Windows Media Player and RealPlayer (most
of my viewers are on Windows PCs and many do not already have QT
installed).

When I try it right now, it just doesn't work. It errors out saying the
protocol is not supported.

The problem here is with Windows Media Player and RealPlayer - they do not support standard RTSP/RTP streams. (Well, RealPlayer sort of does, but not for MPEG-4 video.)

Instead, I suggest that your viewers use the VLC media player <http://www.videolan.org/vlc/>; its RTSP/RTP support is superior even to QuickTime Player.
