Re: QTSS install on Mac OS X 10.4.3

Hmm I'm not the only one then. I also encountered this a couple of weeks ago when installing Darwin for the first time.

Tried various delete / reinstalls with no success. In the end I manually ran the qtpasswd utility from the terminal and it seemed to work just fine then ! Use qtpasswd --help to get command options (it's just like htpasswd for apache)

I don't know *why* it "didn't work", although the qtusers file seemed to be written correctly. There are two possibles I'd consider - either the initial perl script didn't write out the file using the correct passwd function, or the file was created with the wrong user or group - I didn't try to replicate it once it was working ;-)

Maybe it's because I use punctuation in my passwords, to make them harder to guess ?

You may have the name or password wrong.
( The name and password entered at setup)
If the name/password is incorrect the browser just stays on the
" Log into Quicktime Streaming server" page, and clears the
two text entry boxes.

Ian.
