Hi,
we have a pretty weird problem here. I made a test-setup of DSS on my
FreeBSD box (6.0-RELEASE; from ports tree) and everything worked fine,
instantly, with QT-Player and VLC.
The following lab-setup had to be on a RedHat Enterprise 4 (Update 4;
kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp on i686), install went fine and it works
normally with VLC, but: QuickTime Player (7.x on OS X PPC 10.4.7
and .8) just hangs! Doesn't matter if I pick playlists or just the
provided sample movies.
>From looking at debug output and tcpdump-recordings of the data exchange
between client and server currently it seems to be like this:
- VLC and QT setup the connection somewhat differently, RTSP-wise
- Here it comes: When QT issues the RTSP SETUP request, the server
simply does not answer. DSS even logs the SETUP request in debug
output, but apparently just never bothers to generate an answer.
It doesn't log anything regarding this, neither an error nor a
reply in debug output is to be seen.
And, as said, VLC works just fine with this DSS installation, so
it's not a generic issue.
Is this a known problem? Any hints?
Thanks in advance,
- Dennis
