And then try again. If quicktime now works, you've simply got to tweak
your firewall settings. It works without incident on my 4.4 boxes.
I've also disabled SELinux on my systems so if the advice above doesn't
work, that would be my next potential culprit.
There's no active firewall on that host. The routers inbetween don't
firewall either. We tried another install on a colleague's laptop, which
rests in the same LAN as my workstation -- exactly the same problem.
Also the server did see the request (as it is logged), and if it had
answered, it would have been logged.
Thus we can exclude firewalling or routing issues, I think.
I already tried disabling SElinux, as it is known to be troublesome
with a lot of stuff. No change either...
