DSS, Apache and zeroconf/howl howto?

Hi, have a "My zeroconf neighborhood" windows explorer plugin, that sits on my desktop, empty, while I am playing with howl, daapd and Gitunes, Get it all together in Java. My Windows Gitunes runs with the FreeBSD pkgsrc audio/daapd package and net/howl, but I cannot make it run with iTunes. Anyway, is there any way to announce an Apache server and/or Apples DSS? There probably is some way, but what should I ask google for? Has somebody any experiences?
