I'll give that a try. I initially tried mpeg4ip tools, but I'm getting segfaults when trying to hint h.264 files. Hopefully, the gpac stuff will work as I've got a couple of "extra" recent vintage quad-core opteron boxes running Linux that would be ideally suited to churning through a few hundred gigs of pre-encoded video. QT7-pro is choking on the files too...apparently the B-frame issue mentioned by another poster. Sigh....


I guess if worse comes to worst, I could always re-encode everything from scratch, but that would be my least favorite option unless it becomes my only option. :)
