I am not trying to start any FUD here, but you better check how well
the Helix server can stream Quicktime files, if that's important.
I have heard it does not do a very good job.
Normally, I would not be passing on hearsay, but I did hear it
directly a while ago from someone that was actually trying to do it.
My apologies to Real if it proven to be unfounded.
Someone with actual experience, without an ulterior motive, please
correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, QTSS/DSS can stream mpeg4, which is more "open" than any Real
or WMV products, at the present time.

Subject: Re: File formats?
It seems odd though that Real's Helix server can play both QT and WMV
files. Evidently WMV is not all that closed. ALSO, Real has Open
Source version of it's player and its server, so it seems that they
are putting their format out there to some degree in an open fashion.
It's a shame, too, because I would guess there are many out there
like me that have a ton of files to move over, and allowing us to
play them on the QTSS platform would be a great way to get more
market share.
