I think you're confusing MPEG-4 with QuickTime. Although QuickTime on Mac
and Windows supports MPEG-4, MPEG-4 is a different thing than QuickTime and
is well-supported on Linux, mobile phones, iPod, PSP, etc. Linux can be
used to both deliver and view MPEG-4.

Indeed. We use QuickTime (QuickTime Broadcaster, QuickTime Streaming Server, etc.) to deliver MPEG-4 content that is viewable not only with QuickTime on Windows/Mac OS X, but also on Linux, set top boxes, and so on.

In fact, the fact that QuickTime can deliver content to alternate platforms using open standards (MPEG-4, H.264) and protocols (RTP, RTSP) is exactly why we chose QuickTime.
