Two years ago I stayed in HI San Francisco Downtown hostel (312 Mason
St) and I can recommend that. I couldn't complain about anything but
keep in mind that it's a hostel, not a hotel. It's main advantage is
that it's not far from Moscone (an 8 min walk if you ask Google Maps)
and the neighborhood is quite ok. However I think there's a fire
station near Union Square that can wake you at night. I sleep quite
deep so it didn't. Many WWDC students stayed there so the lobby was
usually full of laptops and wifi ran really slow. Nonetheless it was a
great opportunity to talk with other student devs. When reserving your
room ask to be put with other WWDC attendees.
As a final recommendation: my friends I will be staying there this
year too.
Btw. I didn't receive the scholarship this year but have already
bought the plane tickets, so if you know of anyone that got the
scholarship but won't be attending, please drop me an email. Thanks.
